All Spiritual Blessings

God has cleared the path for us as Christians! Let’s look at one (one!) verse on this Truth!

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: (Emphasis Added)
Ephesians 1:3

Did you catch that? Let’s break it down, just for fun!
who” — God, who else? God is the ultimate giver, the greatest provider and “from whom all blessings flow”.
hath blessed” — Old KJV speak for “has”. “Has” is past tense, as in, this has already occurred, this is a done-deal, this is yesterday’s news, etc. And “blessed” — what else would you call it? We have what we needed now.
us” — That’s right: Us. You. Me. Them. All of us. Christians. Everyone. All of us.
with” — A connecting word — what have all of us been blessed with?
all” — A full word! Defined as “every” and “all manner of”. Ooo, this is going to be good. Whatever God has blessed all us Christians with, He blessed us with “every” and “all manner of” it.
spiritual” — Ah, of course. God is spirit, so this is only fitting. Spiritual matters, spiritual things, things in the spirit, etc. Whoa, did we even know that was possible?
blessings” — Different word from “blessed” above — this word can be defined as, “blessing” or “bounty”. A concrete blessing. Blessing as an object.
in” — Where does this statement thus far hold true? We must read on.
heavenly places” — In the heavens, where else? Literally, “above the sky”. It cannot be that we have this type of blessing here on the Earth, with the world as it is today. It has to be something more, something greater, greater than the earth, greater even than the sky — yes, something Great!
in” — All that we’ve seen so far: all blessings for everyone in the heavenlies, but how did we get this. And the answer, not so surprising.
Christ” — Of course! It could be by no other. It’s always, only, ever by Christ Jesus. And notice it’s not “Jesus” here, the Son of God’s humbled name, but it is “Christ”, the exalted one, the Lord, the Messiah. It’s in this Christ that we have all of the before mentioned.

Whew!

Another thing to think about: When does this verse occur? In Ephesians. And what is the significance of that? Well, Ephesians is the doctrine for the Christian church to build it’s foundation upon. Isn’t it great how God starts off the foundational Truth about who we are as Christians with “you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings”! What a great foundational Truth to kick of “Christianity”! Very cool!

Life is spiritual. Whether or not you believe it, whether or not you see it for yourself, whether or not you understand it, it’s still True: that’s the funny thing about Truth.

For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
Romans 8:6

Looking at this verse in Ephesians is just a brief taste of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Isn’t it great what God has done for us spiritually because of Christ Jesus? What a great God and Savior we have!
